Flies and Spiders by MBrainspaz Flies and Spiders by MBrainspaz
I took an old library edition of The Hobbit and killed it artfully. That's what it felt like, anyway.

The book is opened to the chapter Flies and Spiders, which was always my favorite when I was little. I tried to represent it by cutting up the book.

3 hours. Lots of cutting. A bit of glue. A ton of fun.

(Inspired by Su Blackwell)

I had to do something like that for class! I understand the feeling of ruining a book  But you've done an awesome cool job!

every nerve in my body is screaming out against the damaging of a book, but in saying that, I think it looks great! Just DON'T come near my bookshelves! lol

Weeeeell since the paper wasn't thick enough to stand on its own, I had to use bits of a plastic straw I found on my floor, and lots of glue.
With thicker paper it would've worked better.

Glad you like it! :)

Oh my god... This is amazing, but the first thought I had when I saw this was, "YOU'VE COMMITTED A CRIME!!! A CRIME AGAINST EVERYTHING GOOD IN THE WORLD!! YOU HAVE DESTROYED THE HOBBIT!!!" But then I realized you took something beautiful and created another beautiful specimen from it.

This is awesome!! I don't like killing a book, hahaha, but this looks really cool. And it does seem like it would be fun! Maybe I should try it. I remember that chapter...=)

This is very well-done, but the idea of cutting up a book is just too painful for me. Excellent silhouette work, though, and I like how we can see Bilbo in the back there.
